The Public Information Officer 1/2 position, which reports to a classified executive staff member, is primarily responsible for assisting the communications team in all efforts impacting the direction of public information/relations for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry and its bi-weekly publication, the Market Bulletin.Duties include, but are not limited to:100%
- Public Information/Public Relations/Marketing: Assists in writing communications including letters, bulletin stories, social media, web content, invitations, reports, and news releases. Determines, recommends, and assists in the development of new and/or additional social, print, and broadcast media delivery methods and content in order to better serve LDAF's broad audience. Assists with updating and maintaining LDAF's social media presence, including scheduling Facebook updates. Produces and responds to social media posts. Contributes to the overall social media strategies. Assists in planning, researching, writing, and managing bi-weekly Market Bulletin content. Maintains and updates the LOAF website. Assists with organizing and attending monthly communications meetings with each Department and/or Board or Commission, including preparing agendas and taking minutes. Collaborates with staff on new ideas, directions, and mediums for marketing and communications within their departments. Designs and produces elements to showcase the brand including videos, presentation templates, social media graphics, and print elements. Updates media contact lists. Researches and orders promotional materials. Coordinates with print shops to produce signage and mailers. Produces and refines presentations for meetings and events. Edits and manages photo library for use on social media, websites, and other media outlets.Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.Functional Requirements:• Prolonged sitting at work station• Occasional bending or kneeling• Light to moderate liftingEnvironmental Factors:• Works indoors
