The Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General Liz Murrill, is seeking applications for an Accountant Manager. Salary offered will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

A baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting, plus four years of professional level experience in accounting or financial auditing.

Substitutions:

A certified public accountant (CPA) certificate will substitute for the baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus one year of the required experience.

A master's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or public administration will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with State of Louisiana accounting experience may be given preference.

Job Concepts

Overview of Job Concepts/Duties/Requirements:

Supervises and oversees the preparation of complex financial reports in the areas of accounts payable, travel, cost reporting, and expenditure forecasting.

Develops goals and measurable performance standards for program areas supervised including Accounts Payables and Travel.

Establishes productivity reporting criteria and procedures for these units and monitors employee performance to ensure goals are achieved.

Counsels employees, assists with the development of employees' skills, and leads employees to achieve performance objectives.

Provides weekly reports of program area performance.

Assists with the preparation and completion of all required periodic reporting, including: AFR, CAFR, AMPAR

Ability to exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in performing tasks.

Ability to explain often complex federal/state guidelines and policies to personnel to ensure that they fully understand the requirements, responsibilities, and processes.

Effective planning, organizational, and time management skills.

Highly attentive to detail.

Strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.

Reports to the Deputy Director/Deputy Undersecretary within the Administrative Services Division.
