Pay Range $22.00 to $25.00 Per hourThe Transload Operator's primary responsibility is to safely unload and switch railcars in a timely manner.The position of Transload Operator is responsible for the daily unloading of materials consisting of a variety of bulk liquids.Ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies.Ability to operate or learn to operate railcar loading systems and equipment.Ability to operate or learn to operate Class 1 locomotives.Ability to perform or learn to perform switch operations.Ability to perform work safely and productively.Ability and interest in being cross trained on all functions at facility.Strong work ethic.Willingness to follow procedures.Keeps work area clean.Is not afraid to ask questions.Can accurately fill out all necessary paperwork.Enforces safety policies and procedures with other employees and visitors.Ability to perform general maintenance on equipment.Assist with handyman duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscape upkeep & painting).Interact with other team members.Interact with plant people, railroad crews, and visitors.Requirements/Qualifications:For the purpose of safety, it is essential that the candidate possesses English communication skills. The job demands the ability to understand and interpret both written and verbal operational and safety guidelines, as well as related regulations, policies, and memos. Clear and effective communication with colleagues and superiors is a key requirement for this role.Must be able to obtain TWIC card.Basic math skills.Valid Driver's License.Capable to learn how to operate and maintain Class 1 Power Units (no CDL required), Railcar/trans loading equipment (e.g., Hoses, portable conveyors, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium sized equipment, etc.).Education/Experience:High School Diploma or GED equivalent.Physical Requirements:Physically able to climb up and down railcars, ladders and stairs safely; comfortable working at heights.Willing to receive general safety training.Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.Willing to work with liquid non-hazardous bulk materials.Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds.In good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift).Savage is an Equal Opportunity Employer and maintains a drug-free workplace.
