This position will collaborate with each section within the state facilities and be required to use independent judgement, take initiative in carrying out duties and responsibilities and should be extraordinarily detail-oriented.Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:Ensure optimum customer satisfaction by preparing work schedules and assignments of subordinates.Approve time and attendance, daily work records, and leave requests.Set performance standards, evaluate, and prepare performance evaluations. Recommend hiring, termination, and promotion of employees.Counsel subordinates and take appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with higher authority directives.Provide on-the-job training and schedule appropriate training in coordination with the Staff Development and Training Department.Ensure professional staff time is spent primarily in the delivery of treatment services by monitoring progress and maintaining records of staff and the people we serve progress and participates in the training and research related to program development.Compile, organize, and analyze data for services provided by subordinates.Submit reports, assignments, and data on time.Manage assigned buildings and ensure engineering and housekeeping issues are addressed.Develop and implement a comprehensive, outcome-oriented management system by designing, coordinating, and supervising rehabilitation therapy programs which are designed to assist mentally ill individuals in obtaining their long-term views in terms of learning, living, working, and recreation.Ensure that individuals receive treatment services as prescribed by consulting and planning with the interdisciplinary team members in order to establish goals, programs, and individual therapeutic rehabilitation treatment for the people we serve.Manage financial activities, prepare Annual Budgets for areas of responsibility, monitor requests for money and travel, and submit requests for special needs or activities.Perform other related duties as assigned.Operate a 15-passenger vehicle to transport persons served in community outings.Serve on various hospital committees, workgroups, and projects as assigned.Attend and participate in various meetings, including Community Council; conduct monthly program meetings with staff, and other meetings as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position:Knowledge of the principles and practices of one of the allied health field disciplines or one of the rehabilitative sciences.Ability to supervise people.Ability to oversee educational, vocational, or rehabilitation therapy programs.Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.Ability to write evaluation and progress reports.Ability to communicate effectively.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Minimum Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas to be considered for the position: Behavioral Sciences, Social Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, Psychology, Counseling, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Education, Physical Education with coursework in Adaptive Physical Education, Vocational Education, Dance Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Leisure studies with coursework in Therapeutic Recreation, or Horticulture Therapy.Two years’ experience supervising others.Benefits of Working for the State of Florida:Health insuranceLife insurance; $25,000 policy is free plus option to purchase additional life insuranceDental, vision, and supplemental insuranceRetirement plan options, including employer contributionsNine paid holidays and one Personal Holiday each year;Flexible Spending Accounts;Opportunities for career advancement;Tuition waiver for public college courses;US CITIZEN REQUIREMENT
