As a member of PayPal's Rate Limiting Platform Dev Ops team within the Developer Platform Engineering Organization, your work will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, reliability, performance, and security of PayPal's systems. We are seeking a highly talented, enthusiastic, and motivated Dev Ops engineer to join our team, contributing to protect one of the most influential payment platforms in the world from various cyber-attacks.
Your responsibilities will include:
Maintaining, enhancing operational aspects of the platform that detects and mitigates abusive traffic.
Collaborating closely with engineers, architects, product owners, and SRE to deploy, test, and monitor changes in PayPal QA, Production, and Staging Environments.
Responding, analyzing, testing, deploying, and monitoring changes in production.
Providing support to Dev and other PD teams to expand and implement new features and improve existing ones.
Independently working on the production environment to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
Implementing best practices for securing production environments, containers, and applications.
Working closely with development, QA, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of applications.
Implementing monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure the stability and reliability of the systems.
Managing configuration and version control using Git or similar tools.
Troubleshooting critical issues in a timely manner and recommending root cause fixes.
What you need to bring:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
5+ years of relevant experience.
Familiarity with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
Strong experience with Git and collaborative code management practices.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Datadog, Open Telemetry, and Splunk.
Experience working with agile methodologies and collaborative cross-functional teams.
Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes) is a plus.
Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS or Google Cloud is a plus.
