Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC and Tooling Equipment to produce specified tooling.
Job Duties
Must program/operate CNC latheSelect and set tooling to suit different parts/jobsProgram and operate CNC ControllerMake necessary adjustments to existing programsPerform tool offsets and insert changesInspect parts, troubleshoot and report any difficulties with development/tool issues immediately to supervisorAbility to read and build from a blueprintKnowledge and use of measuring toolsWhen required, develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.Read and review engineering drawings, customer provided part drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications.Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly.Confers with engineers, operators or others to resolve production problems.Must be a team playerFollow all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures.Other duties may be assigned or required for this position.
Experience and Education
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience running and programming the CNCExperience with CMM operation and programmingAbility to create conversational programs (G&M Code)
Competencies/ Skills
Ability to interpret work instructionsAbility to follow written and verbal directionsBasic verbal and written communication skillsBasic mathematical skills
