deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a GFC Principal Software Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Description:
The successful candidate's role includes software development and support of the GMD Fire Controls (GFC) suite of products within the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Ground-based Midcourse Defense Weapon System program. They will be responsible for developing and implementing software updates that best meet changing customer needs for new and existing features of the GFC system, collaborating with team members, and working in a cross-functional agile scrum team. The selected individual will support the GFC product development out of Colorado Springs, CO and will primarily be working within the support layer between the front-end and back-end of the GFC product.
Target salary range: $110,000 - $140,000. This target salary represents an estimated range for this position based on experience, degree and other factors.

Responsibilities Include:
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product software.
Collaborates with other software and systems engineers to determine computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions.
Ensures software standards are met.
Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction.
Apply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs.
Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science discipline from an accredited university.
Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience. Maximum years' experience not to exceed 10.
Recent experience in design and development of software in an object-orientated programming language, with demonstrated skills in Ada and C++
Practical experience with Software Design.
Recent experience with version control software and Atlassian tools. i.e. Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence and Jenkins.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
Special Skills Desired:
Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or related field.
Experience with Missile Defense Agency systems.
Understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery.
Experience working in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
Experience programming in GNAT Programming Studio and Visual Studio Code.
Familiarity with Agile software development practices, Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), and Scaled Agile Framework
5+ years of experience with Ada.
2+ years of experience with C++.
Ability to maintain and upgrade existing application developed using Ada within a large code base.
Familiarity with CORBA and ACE / TAO or ORBexpress.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and government customer personnel.
Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definition.
Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project goals.
