deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Description:

The selected Software Engineer will be responsible for software development and support of the GMD Fire Control (GFC) suite of products within the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities Include:

Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.

Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design and development of product software.

Ensure software standards are met.

Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.

Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with minimal oversight and direction.

Apply a holistic systems approach to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs.

Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university.

Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience. Maximum years' experience not to exceed 10.

Recent demonstration of developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as Ada, C, C++, or Java.

Strong Math background, specifically linear algebra, probability, and numerical methods.

Strong Physics background, specifically Orbital mechanics, gravity and earth modelling.

Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.

Active US Government DoD Secret security clearance.

Must be able to support an in-person, closed-area work environment 100% of the time.

Special Skills Desired:

Experience with Missile Defense Agency systems.

Understanding of continuous integration/delivery.

Experience with algorithm/SW optimization and debugging skills.

Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.

Understanding of Agile software development practices and DevSecOps.

Experience with version control software and tools such as Git, Gitlab, Nexus Repository, Artifactory, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, etc.

Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and government customer personnel.

Applicant selected must have an active Secret security clearance.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.
