The City of Louisville is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team. In this role, as Senior Systems Administrator, you will act as a technical leader on the IT team, providing vision, support, and configuration for cyber security, servers, backups, Microsoft ecosystem, and enterprise projects. You will support 13 sites, including 3 water treatment environments, a library environment and the main City of Louisville Domain. You will strive to ensure the highest levels of cybersecurity protocols, maintain CJIS and PCI compliance, and provide visioning and strategic plans for your areas of responsibility.

Examples of Duties

Backup Testing and Methodology

Provide vision and strategic planning for current and future backup systems.

Complete virtual machine replica testing and verification.

Water Treatment, City, and Library backup and testing.

Offsite, cloud, and Office 365 backups, testing, and verification.

Ensure all backups are CJIS, PCI, and HIPAA compliant, ensuring cybersecurity resilience and best practices are followed.

Microsoft Administrator and Expert at Office 365

User License Maintenance.

Intune implementation, testing, and maintenance.

SharePoint Intranet, Teams, and OneDrive projects and maintenance.

Subject matter expert at the Power Suite.

Responsible for all E-discovery and retention.

Responsible for Authentication solutions.

Infrastructure Maintenance

VMware infrastructure patching and management.

Server patching and maintenance across the organization.

Hardware firmware updates.

Communicating changes and outages to the organization adjusting plans as needed.

Project Management & Replacement Planning

Coordinating vendors and service contracts.

Identifying and testing new solutions and systems.

Managing scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects.

5-10 year replacement planning and budgeting for infrastructure.

Visioning

Define standards for base server software and configuration.

Define standards for base workstation software and configuration.

Continue plotting a course to the cloud.

Act as backup resource for Senior Network Engineer

Contact for Security Operations Center.

Minor firewall configuration changes.

Switch and Router configuration changes.

Surveillance system administration.

Operate vulnerability management program.

Continuation of projects managed by Senior Network Engineer.

WIFI troubleshooting and management.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the IT Director.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Create and maintain a catalog of services.

Interact with City Staff at all levels to assess and support enterprise applications.

Participate in annual IT budgeting and planning related to infrastructure.

Partner and collaborate with other municipal and government agencies to assess application best practices.

Remain active and engaged in local and national IT groups.

Supervise and coordinate pertinent vendor contracts and agreements.

Maintain a strategic plan for all application lifecycles.

General Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business, or a directly related field. Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered as deemed appropriate by the City of Louisville.

Six (6) years of experience in system and/or network administration, a directly related field, or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.

Experience working on cross-functional teams (both technical and non-technical) to produce successful implementations is critical.

Relevant industry or technical certifications and/or coursework.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and customers.

Demonstrated ability to keep information confidential.

Ability to provide information clearly and concisely.

Ability to multitask and prioritize appropriately.

Possess the ability to shift between the big long-term strategic picture and the short-term tasks and details.

Additional Information

Special License, Registration or Certification Required:Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and with an acceptable driving record.

Pre-employment Screening:

An offer of employment is contingent on the successful completion of a background check. Candidates must pass a criminal background check. Certain positions may also require, but are not limited to, driving record check, drug screening, and a physical.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ability to commute to several different city locations around the City of Louisville and other locations as necessary. Travel may be required to attend off-site meetings. Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday including some evening and weekend hours.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands, fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and read, speak, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Daily tasks may require sitting at a computer for several hours. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
