Senior Data Engineer

Responsibilities:
Build and maintain internal trust in our key datasets
Monitor data pipeline health and address impairments and outages
Level up our data capabilities
Work with stakeholders across the business to answer their data needs
Understand the reasoning behind key product and design decisions and contribute good solutions to implementation and architecture discussions
Educate Engineering, Product, and the rest of our division on relevant data best practices
Lead key initiatives to improve our product and team life
Writing code and white-boarding the benefits and disadvantages of various approaches to an architecture decision
Testing initial prototypes with the engineering and product team to solicit feedback and iterate on the next version
Reviewing your code, architecture, and style decisions with other engineers
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in a data engineering, analytics, or machine learning role
BS in Computer Science or similar field
A broad background in modern data best practices
Ability and willingness to make strategic decisions that impact the business for years
Experience with ETL/ELT using Spark or similar tools
Experience with cloud data warehouses like AWS Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, and Azure Synapse Analytics (formerly SQL DW)
Experience with BI tools like Qlik, Sisense, Looker, Birst, and Power BI
Strong analytical SQL skills
Programming experience with Ruby, Python, or equivalent
Experience building solutions using REST web services
Excellent communication skills
Experience with agile development processes
