We are committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce that brings diverse perspectives to every area of our business.Our benefits include:Medical coverage on date of hire100% employer paid cash balance pension plan401(k) with company match fully vested on date of hireMinimum of 15 days paid vacation and 12 paid holidaysPaid parental leave and family caregiver leaveAbout The PositionThe Senior Tax Specialist is responsible for income tax accounting and income tax compliance activities, as well as possible duties related to regulatory accounting, audits, tax technology, tax research and special projects.Key responsibilities include:Know and understand the operations of assigned legal entitiesUnderstand the transactions represented on the trial balance of assigned legal entities.Determine and communicate the appropriate tax treatment of transactions reflected in the trial balance.Prepare the quarterly income tax provision for each assigned legal entity, in adherence with ASC 740Maintain the completeness and accuracy of the temporary difference ledger and deferred tax balances.Ensure that all uncertain tax positions are communicated and accounted for properly on each assigned legal entityEnsure that all taxes payable and receivable are properly reconciled and classified on the balance sheetAssist in the preparation of the federal income tax return for each assigned legal entityAssist in the preparation of state and local income tax returns as assignedEnsure that all applicable SOX 404 controls are maintained and adhered to every quarterAssist supervisor and director on income tax special projects including liaison with external consultants.Complete tax research projectsAdditional responsibilities related to special projects as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited college or university requiredMBA or Master's level degree (Master's in Accounting, Finance or Master of Taxation) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required5-7 years of income tax experience at a professional level in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department requiredExperience in regulated utility income tax accounting preferredProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook requiredExperience with Oracle, PowerPlan/PowerTax and OneSource software products preferredStrong written and verbal communication skills requiredAbility to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment requiredAbility to handle multiple competing priorities at a time requiredAbility to perform income tax and accounting researchProficiency in the Ameren competencies: Think Customer, Inspire and Engage, Foster Innovation, Drive Results, Champion Learning, Build Trust, and Be StrategicAdditional InformationAmeren’s selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process.
