We’re currently searching for a Project Engineer to join our team, help us grow and scale, and continue our tradition of success. The Project Engineer is in charge of planning and coordinating technical engineering initiatives to ensure they can complete projects within their budget and according to a schedule. Their duties include upholding project standards by researching compliance regulations, developing project implementation plans, and adjusting specifications for elements of a project. This role is very critical to our extreme growth, and the ideal candidate will be an experienced business-savvy leader, very organized, familiar with heavy truck parts and service operations, and accustomed to the intricacies of a fast-paced environment. They should have a strong desire for aftermarket parts growth and be a great communicator.

Role and Responsibilities

Facilitate new products (including BEV/electric vehicle chassis and systems) together with Design Engineering leads within quality, time, and cost constraints.

Deeply engage in the design & development engineering process and manage projects from concept through to prototype validation and then introduction to production.

Partner with cross-functional groups to manage & control system development & create status reports for management.

Support project management activities including task, resource planning, scheduling, status tracking, and project reporting.

Conduct research on compliance requirements and complete validation plans to ensure compliance requirements are met.

Consult with engineering leads, assess internal or external requirements, and study product characteristics to select validation objectives and standards.

Establish performance and quality criteria for the project.

Review drawings, models, and specifications to determine appropriate validation and manufacturing processes and collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering team to move from Design to Manufacturing stages.

Ensure new product/process development to a level of production feasibility within allocated timing, meeting all objectives of the development programming, including investment, production costs, production performance, and quality.

Create and review Solidworks/CREO CAD models and drawings. Perform mathematical computations to develop, design, and create detailed specifications of components.

Facilitate NPI (new product introductions) process for product development and identify requirements for new products in the market.

Work collaboratively with industrial, design, and manufacturing engineering teams during the NPI process to ensure the highest quality products are delivered.

Perform preliminary and advanced work in the development of working layouts and final master parts, assembly, and drawings.

Analyze highly complex design problems and formulate engineering conclusions by applying engineering and/or mathematical principles.

Oversee and consult on prototype fabrication processes.

Perform project-related technical liaison and representation service with outside customers, suppliers, and related divisions/groups.

Provide technical support and follow-up on design/product/process validation activities.

Act as a liaison between Engineering and other departments/personnel.

Interact with suppliers, dealers, and customers as required.

Support other members of the Engineering department, check design work to verify layout, fit, form, function, materials, specifications, and other details/documents as required.

Complete design studies, tolerance stack-ups, layout, drawings, calculations, weight estimates, and provide supporting documentation.

Other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Comfortable with complex problem solving and rapidly changing priorities.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field desired. Equivalent education and experience required.

Experience in product development in automotive/heavy truck suspension and steering systems required.

5+ years of experience working with automotive/truck or heavy equipment design required; Class 7/8 truck chassis highly desired.

2-3 years of team lead or management experience highly desired.

3-D CAD proficiency required; SolidWorks experience desired.

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, required; experience using ERP and CRM programs desired.

Experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems on mobile and on-highway heavy equipment.

Experience with EV powertrains highly desired.

Preferred Experience and Skills

Strong technical skills and mechanical aptitude.

Ability to effectively work as part of a team with demonstrated leadership skills.

Organizational skills and the ability to manage several different tasks/projects simultaneously.

Ability to communicate across the organization and lead presentations.
