Business Intelligence Report Developer
The
Business Intelligence Report Developer
is responsible for creating and maintaining reporting solutions used by TSPMG and Health Plan leaders, professional staff, and/or clinicians. The BI Developer collaborates with analytical resources, executives, business owners, project managers and data architects to translate simple and complex reporting requests into clear, well-structured, and actionable presentations that are both easy to understand and aid the organization towards making sound operational and strategic decisions. In addition, the BI Developer will perform other functions related to the management and maintenance of reporting platforms used, to include creating email subscriptions, troubleshooting issues, managing user access, creating automated workflows, scheduling data and report refreshes, etc. They will also support, mentor and/or train analysts as well as business users in the proper use of reporting tools, functions, and platforms, and also perform routine monitoring of reports to ensure reporting standards are being followed by others within the Business Intelligence Group department.
Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Collect and document business reporting requirements to envision and develop creative and advanced Business Intelligence solutions in Power BI and/or Tableau that will not only satisfy but exceed customers’ expectations.
Write efficient SQL and/or Oracle queries for use in reporting solutions. May also assist with the design and/or monitoring of data models and ETL processes to ensure accuracy.
Apply advanced reporting functionality into reporting solutions such as cascading parameters/filters, linked reports, graphs, charting tools, forecasting and/or geographical features.
Gathers data and information on targeted variables in an established systematic fashion by validating data sources; querying, merging, and extracting data across internal and external sources; completing routine data refresh and update; developing and/or delivering complex tools for electronic data collection; and providing user training, support, and documentation.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college, preferably in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Business, Statistics, Accounting, Management, or related field.
Preferred Education
Master's Degree preferably in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Business, Statistics, Accounting, Management, or related field.
Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
Minimum five (5) years’ report development experience using Power BI Desktop and/or Power BI Report Builder with working knowledge of Tableau reporting functions.
Proficient in Power BI development, including data modeling, DAX calculations, Power Query, and Power Automate.
Minimum five (5) years' experience writing, interpreting, and manipulating Microsoft SQL scripts, views, and/or stored procedures to perform analytics and create data sets for reporting tools.
Knowledge of data warehousing theory/practice, data management practices, data models, and relationships between data elements.
Minimum five (5) years' experience of related work experience (i.e., in a reporting and analytical environment, preferably in healthcare).
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel with familiarity using pivots, macros, and graphing functionality.
Must be creatively inclined with advanced graphical layout and design techniques and keen attention to detail.
Outstanding verbal and written communication with effective interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work directly with various levels of leadership and bring high priority projects to a successful result.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications
Familiarity with Power BI Service, Power Automate and/or Fabric functions is a plus.
Knowledge of healthcare industry, especially healthcare Clinical/Hospital Operations, Member Experience, or Quality analytics.
