OverviewThe Site Support Engineer provides IT support to North Florida’s data center operations within Florida East Coast Railway.
This is a technical position. The position provides local 2nd level support in the data center and performs vendor management by coordinating with vendors (3rd level support) to resolve incidents and problems from monitoring tools, dashboards, and automated system alerts to escalate issues to the different teams (Help desk, Network Operations Center, Data Center Operators, etc.). This position will know the physical Datacenter infrastructure like Racks & Blade Servers, Storage & Backup devices (VTL, LTO Tapes), Network Switches connections, redundancy (Teaming, Multipath, administration consoles from vendors (Dell-iDrac, HP-E-iLO).
The position requires assistance in case of incidents in the data center assets 24x7 using remote access or attending on-site.
ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the technical implementation documentation and update on that, in the tools provided for the company like IT Portal.
Help to manage the electric infrastructure (facilities) to ensure redundancy and correct physical operation (UPS, emergency plant, PDUs, precision conditioned air).
Maintain the control and inventory tools with the GMXT Technical Support team (SNOW Software, IT Portal).
Manage the server on x86 architecture with enterprise operating systems Windows Server and Linux enterprise (RHEL, SLES, OEL)
Intermediate/advanced skills for Microsoft data center products like Windows Server, Active Directory, System Center Configuration Manager, etc.
Intermediate/advanced skills for Linux/Unix environments based in RedHat or Ubuntu like RedHat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Satellite.
Intermediate/advanced skill scripting and automation tools like Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Shell, Python, etc.
Ensure the day-to-day activities are integrated with governance tools (CyberArk, Ansible, Microsoft System Center, Active Directory).
Install and configure Windows/Linux Operating Systems, to physical servers and/or virtual servers. Configure all hardware and/or software related to the IT infrastructure (Network Storage, Network connections, DNS definitions, IPs, etc.), considering High Availability and DRP scenarios.
Execute a plan for updates related to patches and security fixes, ensuring the application availability hosted in the VM.
Deploy agents required by various tools for asset management, security, anti-malware, monitoring, etc.
Intermediate/Advance skills for managing the virtual environment platform based on VMware hypervisor:
vCenter implementation/administration with DRS, HA, FT, Snapshot, clones.
Maintenance fix and updates patches.
Use of vRealize and operations manager suite (desired).
vSAN administration (desired).
Distributed switches configurations.
Oversee special and minor projects to ensure the requirements established by GMTX are met.
Follow the digital infrastructure architecture standards, guarantee the server security hardening, and monitor and keep environments safe through compromise assessment.
Ensure the integration with backup tools like Veeam, and Rubrik for the correct execution of server's backups and periodically test their recovery with the backup team.
Provide accurate response and feedback to Help Desk and customers according to defined SLAs.
Perform technical support to help with the deployment of new software and/or hardware systems.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or another related discipline is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Windows and Linux servers and hypervisors experience.
Knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell), among others.
2+ years’ experience.
Experience with user account and mailbox management for Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux Server.
The knowledge of storage, network, backups.
Vendor, Project.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Basic knowledge of monitoring tools.
Basic knowledge of scripting on Linux and Windows (Bash, PowerShell).
Governance tools like automation, inventory, and patch management (Ansible, System Center, CyberArk).
Enterprise Linux environments, RedHat (RHEL), SuSe (SLES), Oracle (OEL).
Familiarity with common networking concepts and protocols.
Web Browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer).
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Work with other technical members and implement technological solutions for the project.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
25% travel required.
This position is 100% onsite in Jacksonville, FL. Remote work is not available. Must live in Jacksonville, FL or relocate before starting at own cost.
Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard workweek).
The applicant selected for this position will be required to pass a background check and drug screening test; passing results must be received before the start date in a new position.
