Global Sustainability Leader

The Global Sustainability leader is a visionary and pivotal position focused on maintaining Brown & Brown’s commitment to being “Focused on Forever.” This leadership position oversees the visions, mission, execution, and efficacy of the company’s sustainability programs, strategies, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives. This position will serve as the leader for Brown & Brown’s Global ESG Working group with the goal of continuing to improve and uphold our sustainability initiatives and positively impact the well-being of our communities across the globe.
General Responsibilities:
Actively collaborate with the ESG working group regarding ESG strategy related matters.
Develop, implement, and monitor ESG goals, initiatives, and policies.
Lead the Global ESG Working group.
Drive progress towards the Company’s ESG goals.
Oversee communications, both internal and external, concerning ESG matters.
Monitor and assess developments related to and improving the Company’s understanding of ESG issues.
Report on the Company’s progress in improving its ESG profile to the company, senior leadership, the Governance Committee, and the Board.
Collaboratively work with company leaders to allocate ESG tasks to the appropriate employees that are empowered, most notably partner with our Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging task force.
Assess, analyze, and propose company policies and processes to identify areas and processes to which improvements can be made in accordance with the organization’s commitment to sustainability.
Identify creative ways in which the company can balance business obligations with the goal of respecting, supporting, and improving the local and global environments.
Propose and implement strategies to address various people, community, environmental, and governance concerns.
Draft and implement sustainable organizational policies.
Evaluate the efficacy of sustainability programs; recommends and implements improvements as necessary with a goal of balancing strategy, execution, and operational implications.
Provide subject matter expertise and conduct research to identify environmental and sustainability concerns, interests, and issues.
Consider sustainability proposals with attention to factors such as cost-effectiveness, feasibility, and ease of integration with other programs.
Draft and prepare reports, presentations, and proposals; presents proposals and recommendations to the Global ESG Working group, board of directors, and other key internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and maintain appropriate documentation and records including budgets and other financials.
Prepare documentation required for project funding for various environmental initiatives.
Maintain current working knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, all applicable local, state, federal, and internal environmental laws and regulations.
Identify and facilitate training as needed.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of relevant environmental management and sustainability leadership experiences with high-level decision-making authority.
Strong verbal communication skills to clearly articulate ideas and understanding.
Technical writing skills to create and manage important documentation.
Critical thinking skills to solve problems and enact creative thinking to provide solutions.
Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university.
Travel up to 40%.
