Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Software Engineer – Software Integration Engineer/System Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
The position requires previous experience integrating separate software components into a single system. The candidate must also be able to read and troubleshoot application source codes, work in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to change. Occasional travel will be required for this position, including support for installation and checkout at customer sites (including OCONUS).
Essential Functions:
Installation and configuration of Linux and Windows HW platforms from the OS to the C2BMC-developed applications.
Documentation and verification of all installation and configuration steps in the documentation to be delivered to the customer.
Develop installation scripts to automate the system installation.
Develop test plans/procedures for conducting software integration tests.
Responsible for integration/execution, detailed data analysis, and preparation of software test reports.
Coordinate the execution of SW integration tests to verify system operation.
Work with software developers as needed to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during software integration.
Submit problem reports for errors found.
Responsible for implementing all system Information Assurance directives, including running IA scans.
Task and coordinate daily integration activities with other local team members.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 7 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhD, or 13 years of experience in lieu of the degree.
Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
Must have hands-on experience with DoD integration processes, Agile and DevOps methodologies, and automated test tools.
Must have experience integrating complex Windows and Unix/Linux applications.
Must have Linux and Windows system administration, including installing and configuring systems from the OS level up.
Must have VMWare systems administration and installation.
Must have Information Assurance policies and procedures and the ability to apply IA requirements to an existing system.
Must have PowerShell/Bash/Korn scripting languages (developing, debugging, and maintaining).
Good communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with software developers, system administrators, and analysis and test engineers.
Must write precise, concise system installation and configuration instructions.
Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
Use of Git Version Control System VM Horizon View experience is a plus.
Familiarity with Java and object-oriented development is a plus.
Knowledge/expertise in the C2BMC concept of operations and user interface.
Experience writing installation manuals.

Salary Range:
$121,000 - $181,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
