About the Animal Health Diagnostic CenterThe Animal Health Diagnostic Center (AHDC) is a high visibility and high-volume veterinary diagnostic laboratory that promotes the health, productivity, and welfare of food-and fiber-producing animals, companion animals, and zoo and wildlife populations. Through its comprehensive veterinary diagnostic services, the AHDC detects animal diseases and supports animal and public health, promotes environmental stewardship, and fosters economic growth.

AHDC Administration is a diverse team of individuals who support the organization's efficient operation and implements the organizational policy, planning, and collaborative decision-making of the Director of Operations and Business and the Executive Director.

The OpportunityThe Business Systems Analyst enhances the business procedures, practices, applications, and systems across the AHDC. They are the organization's steward of improvements, and caretaker of processes. They assess, streamline, manage, and maintain efficient practices that benefit the organization's growth and supports the productivity of its employees. They are the liason between business functions and the college's IT team (VMIT), identifying how technology can meet operational objectives and long-term goals.

By applying creative, effective processes at the AHDC, the Business Systems Analyst has a direct daily impact on the lives of animals and people in New York, the United States, and internationally. They play a crucial role at the AHDC, surrounded by a diverse community of enthusiastic and supportive professionals united by this shared mission.

This position reports to the Director of Operations and Business, and indirectly reports to the Executive Director.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage AHDC business and laboratory systems, website content, and workflow applications to evaluate business problems and ensure stability, integrity, and efficiency of daily operations. Identify potential enhancements.Analyze existing applications and systems to determine needed functional modifications and/or enhancements using knowledge of AHDC business systemsLearn and translate business requirements into functional requirements, recommend system enhancements, and develop or modify procedures to support workflow, interfacing, and reporting.Create and maintain user accounts and permissions for assigned systems and serve as point of contact resolving access and navigation issuesProvide client service and functional advice to end-users within areas of expertise; diagnose, resolve, and review functional and process issues.Liaise between vendors, VMIT, and AHDC units, as strong partnerships with VMIT, external vendors, and associated state and federal groups are critical to complying with regulations, practices, and technology standards.Success FactorsStrategic thinking related to effective business system operations, with a high level of initiative for continuous learning and investigation.Flexible mindset with the ability to identify and respond to the changing needs of the business.Energy and enthusiasm for systematic review and analysis.Good judgment and capable of working independently with limited supervision and guidance.Exceptional client service with collaborative communication skills to support all stakeholders, convey a positive attitude, and contribute to a positive work environment.Well-developed analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills, with an ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.

* This position is 40 hours per week. While normal business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, specific schedules may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, University holidays and scheduled breaks.

* This is a three-year term position; reappointment will be contingent upon funding and performance.

RequirementsBachelor's degree in business management, information technology, computer science, or biological science with a minimum of

four (4) years'
