ResponsibilitiesPeraton is currently seeking to hire an experienced
Power BI Developer
to become part of Peraton’s Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective, and secure business processes.
Location: Rosslyn, VA; Hybrid role.
Must be able to come into the office as needed.
In this role you will need to:
Design, develop and manage business intelligence solutions using Power BI with the ability to transform raw data into meaningful insights that drive business decisions.
Design and develop data models that support Power BI reports and dashboards
Use Power Query and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to transform, cleanse and structure data for analysis
Optimize data models to ensure efficient performance and scalability
Create visually compelling and interactive reports and dashboards in Power BI
Develop custom visualizations to meet specific business requirements
Implement drilldowns, filters and slicers to enhance user activity
Connect Power BI to various data sources including SQL Server, Dataverse, Azure, Excel, and third-party APIs
Implement scheduled data refreshes to keep reports up to date
Collaborate with business stakeholder to gather and document reporting requirements
Analyze business needs and translate them into technical specifications for Power BI solutions
Identify bottlenecks such as slow queries or inefficient data models
Implement row-level security (RLS) and other security measure to control access to sensitive data within Power BI
Manage user roles and permissions to ensure proper access control
Conduct testing to validate the accuracy and functionality of the Power BI reports and dashboards
Debug and troubleshoot issues that arise during formal testing or in production
Document data models, and report logic for future reference and maintenance
Update reports and dashboards based on changing business needs or feedback from users
Stay updated with the latest features and best practices in Power BI
Explore new ways to leverage Power BI for advanced analytics and reporting

QualificationsRequired:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science and 5 years’ experience or 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
Possess one of the following certifications, OR be able to obtain before start date:
CAP, CASP+ CE, CCISO, CCNA-Security, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), CND, CSSLP, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, GSLC, Security+ CE, SSCP, PPDA, Agile IC, or SNOW App Dev
Power BI Report Development:
Experience in Power BI UX design and creating visually appealing and interactive reports and dashboards to support business intelligence needs.
Experience maintaining and improving existing reports with an updated UX approach and consistent design.
Experience transforming raw data into actionable insights through interactive and user-friendly reports, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across reports.
Experience using Report Builder or Power Pages
Data Integration and Management:
Must have the ability to integrate data from Dataverse into Power BI using SQL queries and Dataflows to provide comprehensive insights.
Experience managing data connections, data models, and transformations within the Power BI environment.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to data or reporting functionality.
SQL and Dataflows Management:
Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries to extract and manipulate data for reporting purposes.
Experience Utilizing Power BI Dataflows to prepare and transform data for analysis.
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting dataflows to ensure continuous data refresh and availability.
Experience using Dataverse as a data source
Demonstrated ability in planning, execution, and delivery of Power BI solutions within scope, time, and budget.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working in an Agile development environment
Experience creating technical documents
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working with stakeholders across different levels of the organization to gather requirements, provide updates, and drive adoption of developed solutions.
Commitment to staying up to date with the latest Power BI features, industry standards, and best practices in application development and data security.
U.S. citizenship with an active Secret security clearance and ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance
Desired Certifications:
Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or relevant certifications are a plus.
