Job Title: Graduate Electrical Engineer
Job Location: 2908 Marketplace Drive, Fitchburg, WI 53719
Primary Function:
As a member of a project team, the Graduate Electrical Engineer will perform engineering and design duties, which require application of engineering principles. Assignments are closely supervised and designed to further develop employee's job knowledge and abilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:Work with project team to perform specific tasks as assigned for the creation of design documents and drawings for a project, including creating wiring diagrams from schematics, generating bills of materials, and applying field mark-ups of project as-built drawings under direct supervisionPerform engineering support tasks such as relay burden, lighting, simplified load flow, and short circuit calculations under direct supervisionLearn and apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow and short circuit studies under direct supervisionComplete tasks as assigned to meet engineering and design effort project schedule requirementsLearn and apply engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSILearn and properly use the document management systemLearn and apply corporate standard engineering practicesSpend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge and additional training in substation construction and designTake personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her workBring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible partyTravel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignmentsOther duties as requiredMinimum Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required, a power focus is preferred. Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain EIT certificate within one year of date of hire is required. Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field is preferred.
Possess skills in the following areas:
Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentalsBasic knowledge of three phase power systemsDemonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team environmentStrong problem solving and analytical skillsDemonstrated communication skills, both verbally and writtenKnowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail softwarePhysical Requirements:
This position requires minimal physical effort.Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a dayWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%)Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions as defined per Company policy.
