Job Description:Job Title: Sr. Mechanical EngineerJob Duration: 6+ months with possible extensionEst. Pay Range: $67- $97 (USD)Work Type: REMOTE
Overview/ Responsibilities:Fluids/Mechanical Analyst (200+ tubes to release in 2 months)
Design of various pressure vessel types, and shapes to accommodate vehicle space allocation and integration envelope.Design of fluid lines and flex elements for cryogenic and space application.Drawing generation, including tolerance and GD&T setup.Ownership of design release cycle, including drawings release, and DFM reviews.Analysis of primary and secondary spacecraft pressure vesselsIntegration of structural analysis with loads and dynamics environmentsFinite Element Model development, refinement, validation, and correlation to testsStrength checks and analysis report generationTest and verification plan and report generationSupport configuration development and trade studies
Required Skills/ Qualification/ Education:Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering8+ years of experience in the prediction/validation of low and/or high-frequency structural dynamics and loads, in addition to finite element modelingSolid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentalsPassion for spacecraft structural/environmental loads development/validationAbility to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools)Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, or automotive in some of the following areas:External loadsVibro-acoustic analysisThermal LoadingAnalysis using Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or Opti struct.Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionPreferred Qualifications:
COPV Pressure Vessel design and analysisMetallic Pressure Vessel design and analysisFluids Lines design and analysisFlex Elements design and analysisComposite design and analysis skills in any thermoset, thermoplastic, metal matrix and ceramic matrix compositesManufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization & allowable developmentExperience testing materials, joints, components and vehiclesStructural optimization using standard industry codes (Opti struct, Hyper Sizer, Nastran Sol 200, etc)Experience with Pro Engineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or greaterExperience with Pro Engineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or greater piping / routing moduleExperience with Human spaceflightExperience with compositesExperience with AIAA S-080 and S-081Experience with EJMA Ninth and Tenth Edition
