The Part time Janitor reports to the Director of Facilities and is a member of the San Diego Rescue Mission Facilities team. This person is responsible for facilitating a clean and safe work environment for both students and employees. The purpose of this job is to keep the Mission Facilities in a clean, orderly and functioning condition. Provide good customer service, and build good, strong, working relationships with the team and represent our Mission, Vision, and Values and continue to grow professionally and spiritually.
To provide routine daily cleaning (Monday - Friday) of all areas assigned by the Facilities Director and Facilities Assistant Manager
Follow safety guidelines and procedures in handling cleaning supplies and equipmentPerform general cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the facility is clean and orderlyClean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors, empty and dispose of trashDisplay effective leadership skills to ensure the timely completion of student's janitorial dutiesDemonstrate sound knowledge of various cleaning methods and excellent communication skillsReport any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisorPerforms job safely, without endangering the health or safety of him/herself or others; respects and conforms to Mission's Code of Conduct and Anti-Harassment policies as well as all other guidelines regarding behavior and conduct.Follows both standard operational and program procedures and reports needed changes.Attend all mandatory meetings and training (unless previously excused by manager).Maintains confidentiality of sensitive Mission information, such as students, employees and/or donor data.Preserves a supportive work environment by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity at all times, and works to resolve grievances; maintains professionalism and promotes a positive Mission image.To represent our Mission, Vision, and Values and continue to grow professionally and spiritually

Education:
Minimum high school diploma
Experience:
Minimum 6 months full-time work experience in janitorial or related field.
Skills and Abilities:
Coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance.

Travel/Transportation:
The incumbent must travel on a regular (or periodic) basis, as the job requires. The incumbent must have reliable transportation (public transportation may be acceptable depending on the purpose of travel). If the incumbent receives authorization to use a Mission vehicle to perform duties, he or she must present a current California driver's license and good driving record in order to be placed on the Mission's insurance policy.
Uniforms:
The incumbent is expected to wear a Mission uniform daily. The Mission will provide the uniform at no cost to the incumbent. However, some uniforms must be laundered at the incumbent's expense. All uniforms must be maintained in a presentable condition.MANAGERIAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY
The incumbent has no supervision of paid staff. The incumbent has regular supervision of Job Training students and occasional supervision of external volunteers.ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent spends some time off-site at various Mission locations. In general, the incumbent reports to a non-confined location in which he or she is free to move about at will. All locations include annoyances such as clutter, noise, odors, drafts, etc.
The incumbent works in a department that is regularly assigned Job Training students who may have a mental or physical disability or illness.
The incumbent generally works in a residential setting, which consists of individuals who may have a mental or physical disability or illness.
Physical resources may be limited and, in some cases, are donated.
The incumbent is expected to wear a Mission uniform daily
