Job Summary:
The Accounting Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and efficient management of the company's financial resources. This role involves managing a team of accountants, ensuring the smooth operation of accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and payroll functions, and driving process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency.
Job Description:
Core areas of responsibility are:
Oversee Daily Accounting Operations:
Manage the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
Monitor and control the flow of financial data into the company’s accounting systems.
Financial Reporting:
Coordinate and assist with audits, providing necessary documentation and responses to inquiries.
Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
Assign tasks, set performance goals, and provide regular feedback.
Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development of accounting staff.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
Track performance against budget and report on variances.
Work with department heads to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control.
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Oversee the timely filing of tax returns and other regulatory reports.
Monitor and manage financial risks, including cash flow, credit, and collection risks.
Systems and Technology:
Maintain and improve accounting systems and software, ensuring they meet the needs of the business.
Oversee the integration of new technologies into the accounting operations as needed.
Skills, competences, and knowledge to perform the work
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CMA or MBA preferred).
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, and at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
knowledge of GAAP/IFRS , financial reporting, and internal controls.
Experience with accounting software Microsoft Dynamics and analytics tools..
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
Work Environment
Hybrid - onsite in combined office and farm/production environment and work-from-home
Schedule
Monday through Friday standard business hours
