About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]
This position is in Akron, OH, and reports to the VP, Enterprise Technology (Chief Technology Officer). This position is responsible for defining, developing, and implementing the overall technology vision and roadmap for the enterprise. The Chief Architect leads an enterprise wide senior team of architects in designing, documenting and delivering the target architecture for our organizations products, platforms, services, infrastructure, applications, and data. This leader plays an integral role in partnering with key stakeholders across the business to evangelize technology vision, strategy, value, and ensure that technology aligns with and supports the organization's strategic goals, objectives and desired outcomes.
Responsibilities:Provide thought leadership and work across the organization to develop effective partnerships with other members of executive and senior leadership, creating and executing on a common vision while identifying and solutioning data-based risk and opportunities in the near and long term.Develop and maintain a comprehensive enterprise architecture strategy that enables, and aligns with the organization's business goals and objectives.Define and communicate the target enterprise architecture and suite of architectures for the organization that encompasses people, process, data and technology.Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the architecture remains innovative and future-proof.Establish and maintain a robust architecture governance framework, and governing bodies, including standards, guidelines, and processes.Establish, Lead a group to review and evaluate proposed technology initiatives against the enterprise architecture.Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in enterprise architecture.Lead a team of senior technologies and architects in designing, documenting and delivering the enterprise architecture.Partner with the broader technology organization to implement the enterprise architecture.Develop and deliver training programs to educate stakeholders on the enterprise architecture.Identify and implement tools and technologies to support effective architecture management.Partner with business leaders across the organization to understand their needs and ensure the enterprise architecture supports their strategic goals.Communicate the enterprise architecture vision and strategy effectively to all stakeholders.Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across Technology and the business.Foster a culture where employees own, promote, and reinforce FirstEnergy's values and behaviors and feel empowered.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline required; master's degree preferred.Minimum of 15 years relevant work experience at progressively increasing levels of responsibility and leadership is required. Relevant experience includes experience in enterprise architecture or related field.Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, data management, and security principles.Experience in leading and mentoring a team of architects.Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman Framework).Performs in accordance with the FirstEnergy Core Values & Behaviors, leads by example, and demonstrates how these values and behaviors align with the Company's mission, priorities, objectives, and interests.Strategic vision and continuous improvement mindset.Experience in optimizing performance and results through continuous improvement.Accomplished and approachable leader, with a demonstrated track record driving continuous improvement.Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.Experience with working across an entire organization to influence and align on common goals or objectives.Fosters an inclusive work environment that supports FirstEnergy's values.Builds relationships through collaboration and teamwork, across all levels and departments of the company.
