About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]

This position is in Akron, OH, and reports to the Senior Vice President, Shared Services. This position is responsible for leading our digital transformation and ensuring the successful delivery of strategic programs across the organization and within Shared Services. This leader will be responsible for developing and implementing an enterprise-wide comprehensive transformation management framework and tools, establishing robust governance processes, and driving a culture of value creation through enablement and business value realization.

Responsibilities:

Provide thought leadership and work across the organization to develop effective partnerships with executive, senior, and functional leadership, creating and executing on a common vision while identifying and solutioning data-based risks and opportunities in the near and long term.

Lead a diverse cross-functional team in overseeing the execution of all strategic products and programs, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, meet established quality standards, and value metrics.

Develop and implement a standardized and flexible product and program management methodology enterprise-wide.

Partner with product, program, portfolio, and transformation managers to identify and mitigate risks, manage dependencies, and resolve program roadblocks.

Track product and program progress and performance metrics, providing regular reports to leadership.

Ensure effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders across all products, services, and programs.

Establish and maintain a robust governance framework and tools, including intake, prioritization, gating processes, quarterly business reviews, and value realization.

Develop and implement enterprise policies and procedures to ensure product and program alignment with organizational strategy.

Lead product, program, and transformation reviews and audits to assess program health and identify areas for improvement.

Manage program portfolio risks and ensure program compliance with relevant regulations.

Build and lead a high-performing delivery team, providing coaching and mentorship to staff.

Develop and deliver training programs to enhance skills and capabilities across the organization.

Identify and implement tools and technologies to support efficient program execution.

Foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement within the organization, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing.

Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, functional leaders, executive team, and senior leaders.

Foster a culture where employees own, promote, and reinforce FirstEnergy’s values and behaviors and feel empowered.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, project management, or related discipline required; master’s degree, M.B.A preferred.

Minimum of 15 years relevant work experience at progressively increasing levels of responsibility and leadership is required. Relevant experience includes experience in program management, technology management, and transformation management with a proven track record of success.

Experience in developing and implementing continuous improvement and operational excellence methodologies.

Strong understanding of program governance principles and best practices.

Proficiency in program and product management tools and methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile).
