General Description:
The senior director of Strategy and Portfolio Management will lead a high-impact team focusing on shaping and driving the strategic direction of data strategy initiatives, aligning DSDI portfolio with strategic priorities, and effectively managing resource and budgets with focus on the long-term success. This role is pivotal in aligning R&D priorities with the broader organizational strategy and ensuring that data and technology are leveraged effectively to accelerate innovation, improve decision-making and enhance outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic leadership:
Develop and lead the execution of a comprehensive strategy for integrating data and technology into the pipeline.
Collaborate with senior leadership to align R&D data and technology strategies with overall business objectives.
Identify emerging trends, opportunities, and risks in data and technology that could impact cross-functional organizations.
Portfolio Management
Oversee the management of DSDI portfolio, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to high priority projects.
Implement robust and consistent portfolio management process to evaluate, prioritize and monitor initiatives.
Responsible for closely follow up portfolio/program-level key progress and milestones.
Ensure that the portfolio is balanced in terms of risk, innovation potential and alignment with strategic goals.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SPM professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Ensure the team has the skills and capabilities to deliver on the strategic objectives, with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making and technology enablement.
Stakeholder Engagement
As a key liaison between R&D business functions, GTS and other cross-functional teams to drive alignment and execution of data and technology strategies.
Present strategic plans, portfolio updates, and performance metrics to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including research institutions and industry consortia.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the impact of data and technology on performance and outcomes.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by staying informed about the latest advancements in data science, AI, machine learning and other relevant domain knowledge.
Budget and Resource Management:
Manage the budget for the DSDI function, ensuring resources are effectively allocated to support strategic initiatives
Collaborate with finance and operations teams to ensure financial transparency and accountability.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Lead and/or mentor program management team
Minimum Requirements-Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree with 10 + years’ experience in clinical and drug development in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
OR
Master’s Degree or above with 7 + years’ experience in clinical and drug development in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
Minimum 5 years in portfolio and project management with at least 3 years in leadership role.
Other Qualifications:
Strong understanding of lifecycle of data products from collection to release
Excellent experience working in cross-functional team-oriented environments
Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Highly effectively manage conflicts and negotiations, and influence outcomes without direct authority
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with organizational objectives and drive innovation
Thorough knowledge of drug development process and familiar with portfolio management tools and methodologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decision in complex environment
Understanding of ICH and regulatory environment as it pertains to Statistics and Data Science
Working knowledge of one or more EDC systems, SAS and R preferred
Self-motivated
Proven ability to execute and perform autonomously in a fast-paced environment
Fluent in written and verbal English
PMP certification a plus
