Functions and Responsibilities

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Public Safety or designee, the Security Dispatcher will operate the Security Computer Console and Security Communications Center in Campus Police Headquarters and dispatch personnel, patrol vehicles and relay messages as necessary.

Supervisory Role

Oral and written instructions are received from the Director of Public Safety or designee.

Duties & Responsibilities

1.Operate computerized security/safety protection/prevention console, relay and report security/safety discrepancies.2. Command two-way radio base station and dispatches security personnel as prescribed.3. Assist supervisory personnel in the distribution of security equipment and materials.4. Maintain adequate reporting data in regards to daily occurrences and security related duties.5. Answer inquires made in person or by telephone.6. Dispatch personnel and patrol vehicles as necessary7. Make necessary notification within the college concerning incidents, telephone messages, etc.8. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of records.9. Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required.10. Perform other related duties as required

Additional Requirements

1. Maintain responsibilities in spite of inclement weather and other similar factors. Reports to work on occasions of school closing due to such events, unless otherwise notified.2. Valid driver's or commercial license

Minimum Qualifications

Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities

1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. Switchboard and/or radio communication knowledge.3. Must have a clean police record including a successful fingerprint/records check.4. Ability to complete a three-month probationary period.5. Ability to pass physical examination requirements as established by College Health Services.6. Must be able to speak, read and write English effectively.7. Excellent interpersonal skills.8. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.9. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

1. Demonstrated experience in operating a computerized console or similar apparatus.2. Demonstrated experience as a security guard
