Position Summary
Under the immediate direction of Lead person, the Equipment Operator/Utility Person will safely perform cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation.
Duties include monitoring plant conditions during operation, greasing and lubricating plant equipment, maintaining plant housekeeping, operating equipment, performing routine maintenance on plant &equipment. Additionally, safely operate plant mobile heavy equipment to include haul truck, motor grader, water truck, crane, etc. to bring raw materials from pit to plant in a safe and efficient manner at maximum loading capacity.
Essential Functions
Must be able to or willing to learn to operate all other mobile equipment, including: haul truck, motor grader, water truck, loader and craneWill load company trucksAssist in plant repairs and clean-upPerform pre-shift safety inspection on equipmentPerform preventative maintenance and service mobile equipment. Report needed repairs to shop personnelResponsible for good housekeeping of equipmentAdhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulationsPerform duties with minimum supervisionPreferred Education and Experience
HS Diploma or GED required1-year equipment operation, plant operation, or maintenance experience preferredAbility to learn quickly and follow directionsMust be able to read and interpret gauges/dials and make competent decisions related to processing equipmentDependable and self-motivated and can work in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to prioritize workload in an efficient mannerWilling to work irregular shifts, days, nights and weekends as neededGood oral and written communication skillsPro-active in SAFETY and works well in a team environmentKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to read equipment operating manualMust be able to complete pre-shift inspection reportMust be able to communicate in English on radio or CBPossess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reportsMust be able to wear all required safety equipmentMust be able to perform duties in a safe mannerMust be able to read and interpret gaugesProven ability to work in a TEAM environmentPhysical Requirements
Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controlsPossess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feetMust be able to limb on and off equipment to operate and serviceMust be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around mobile equipmentCapable of lifting up to 50 lbMust be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per dayMust work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisy conditionsMust be able to work at various heights
Working Conditions
Larger equipment is typically air conditioned. There will be times when outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
