Job Summary: The Lead, Strategic Sourcing provides leadership for all sourcing activities and develops cost-reduction opportunities for their specific service lines. This role ensures optimal vendor value by monitoring performance and quality products and implements strategic sourcing strategies to lower costs and achieve benchmark pricing.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None. Certified Sourcing Professional (CSP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a negotiations, analytics, or a contracting environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge in supply chain contracting strategies, strategic sourcing, spend analytics, benchmarking, RFx engagements, and achieving cost reductions across assigned product and services categories while maintaining or improving quality. Basic knowledge of finances and economic sourcing, capital equipment, clinical products, and purchasing services. Knowledge of contract lifecycle management, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and executing agreements in accordance with established contracting policies and procedures. Knowledge of day-to-day contracting activities such as renewals, modifications, price discrepancies, and supplier performance concerns. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to maintain strong business relationships. Strong analytical skills to enable sourcing/contracting decisions based on evaluation of previous data sources. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides guidance and direction to department management on priority items and overall sourcing plans and initiatives. Assists in negotiating contracts that includes both local and national purchasing agreements. Manages and maintains strong end-user and vendor relationships that include our Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and distribution partners. Evaluates operational conditions and processes to ensure any special terms or provisions applicable to the Strategic Sourcing Award Strategy are covered during negotiations or other procurement requests such as Request for X (RFx) documents. Maintains measurable and quantifiable performance metrics for all contracting activities in their managed categories. Researches alternative supplier options to ensure supply chain resiliency is maintained. Ensures all suppliers meet service benchmarks and performs periodic evaluations of supplier companies. Works effectively with Legal Counsel to resolve and prevent any contractual concerns.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise). Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
