Life Ambulance Network Emergency Communications Dispatcher is to efficiently dispatch vehicles to emergency and non-emergency requests for service. This ECD position reports directly to the Director of communications and plays a critical role as the first line of response for our patients and customers in emergency and non-emergency situations. The ECD is responsible for effectively monitoring the dispatch system and communicating with the Intake team and field crews to coordinate calls and vehicle placement as well as maintaining acceptable turnaround times. The ECD does this by providing top-tier customer service to our customers and our field staff.Responsibilities:•Answer, screen, and direct calls•Distinguish the need for emergency or non-emergency transportation•Arranging transport requests via the CAD system for callers while determining the level of care needed for the patients.•Provide information and assistance for customer service inquires as needed•Communicate with multiple internal, external departments, and EMS personal•Aid the dispatcher as needed in relation to making phone calls, data entry and reporting.•Provide supportive information to customers to assist them in arranging appropriate transport•Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with internal & external staff, vendors and patients.•Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.•Ensuring HIPAA guidelines, as well as client and employee privacy, are met with the highest level of discretion.•Assists in facilitating improved service through troubleshooting and communication.•Maintains written dispatch logs, operates dispatch program, operates under all FCC laws and regulations, obtains all pertinent information from DCS's•Ensure proper levels of care are met prior to the dispatch of a unit.•Determines the response priority of a resource prior to dispatching the unit.•Maintains control over the CAD; aware of the locations and ETA of all vehicles.•Other duties as assigned by Director of CommunicationsPosition Requirements•Must have current or prior dispatch experience•Must be able to fluently speak, read, and write in English.•Able to type at 30 WPM•Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations•Pleasant, professional phone manner & customer service•Detail oriented•Computer & typing skills•Ability to excel in high-stress environment•Adapt to frequently changing policies•Ability to learn policies and procedures for facilities and recognizing when to apply them.•Medical background a plus•EMD or EMT certification preferred•Day/Night/Weekend availability as needed or required
