Successful funding procurement and grant activity.
Experience at the director level of an art institution.
Job Description
The School of Art and Design at Texas State University invites applications for the position of Gallery Director. The purpose of this position is to oversee all aspects of exhibitions and programming at the Texas State Galleries within the School of Art and Design. These responsibilities include curatorial, operational, supervisory, marketing, and financial duties. The exhibitions and programs serve the School of Art and Design, the College of Fine Arts and Communication, and the broader Texas State University and San Marcos communities.
Job Duties
Curate and direct the implementation of art exhibitions and related programs both independently and in collaboration with School faculty;
Manage the gallery budget and fundraise;
Marketing;
Maintain the permanent collection;
Supervise staff and student workers, as well as exhibiting Thesis students;
Serve on departmental committees, attend departmental meetings, and represent the School on University committees as needed;
Provide outreach to community constituents to facilitate interdisciplinary programming and engagement; and
Provide gallery tours and respond to general inquiries.
