DescriptionThe University of Iowa Health Care, Department of Pharmaceutical Care, is seeking a full-time Supply Chain Coordinator to join our North Liberty Campus. The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care's nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. Changing Lives.The pharmacy supply chain coordinator position is considered essential for the effective long-term operation and support of pharmacy purchasing operations. A person in this role has strong foundational skills in purchasing and inventory management and strong communication skills. This position will provide oversight of the pharmacy inventory levels as well as interact with pharmaceutical vendors. Position will start after January 1, 2025. Position Responsibilities: Develop and implement a standardized purchasing and inventory management process. Procure goods and services on behalf of the department at the best value to the University and to assure compliance. Oversee pharmacy supply chain operations for UI North Liberty Campus including daily medication ordering through wholesaler and direct companies, supply procurement, shortage management, and the medication recall process. Work with pharmacy staff to facilitate special orders. Identify supply utilization/management optimization opportunities and facilitate savings initiatives. Develop and maintain process to review and audit invoice price against contract price. Work with management to resolve discrepancies. Ensure compliance with procurement regulations and contract specifications. Analyze utilization data to maintain optimal inventory ordering points. Assist with Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) compliance. Facilitate cycle counts and 100% inventory process. Report monthly inventory values to management. Identify trends and justify/validate significant changes. P rovide accurate financial information in a cost-effective, efficient and timely manner. Work with Pharmacy Billing Office and Finance teams for month end reporting responsibilities. Prepare daily deposit. Assist with oversight of 340B program and purchases (when applicable). Process detailed information with accuracy. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful completion of the pharmacy technician certification exam within nine months of the start of employment. Experience Requirements: Reasonable (1-3 years) experience with supply management principles/applications and procurement. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to provide and accept ideas and suggestions in a constructive and helpful manner. Excellent interpersonal skills, creating positive working relationships with team members including healthcare providers, vendors, supply chain staff and pharmacy staff. Desired Qualifications: Knowledge and/or experience with PeopleSoft, Epic, McKesson Connect, 340B, and Macrohelix™. Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management and operational improvement in a pharmacy setting. Ability to effectively multi-task, keeping multiple initiatives moving forward simultaneously. Previous pharmacy experience. Certification in supply chain management.
