MAJOR FUNCTIONS
Under the leadership and guidance of the Director of Logistics. This is a skilled position working with an electrician in the construction, maintenance and repair of electric power, lighting, HVAC and communication systems of City facilities and equipment. Working knowledge and experience in activities of electrical and telecommunications in construction, maintenance, and repair of electric power, lighting, communication systems of City facilities and equipment.
This position is designated as emergency essential position that requires performance of emergency duties and actions to prepare, repair, and recover the City before, during, and after any adverse storm events (hurricane, tornado, tropical storm, winter storm, severe thunderstorm, flash flooding, etc.) or other conditions (natural or manmade).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Assist electricians in wiring and installation of electrical equipment and fixtures, such as motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers, controllers, light fixtures and breaker boxes, in compliance with blueprints, schematic drawings, and sketches.Install wiring and fixtures conforming to specification of local electrical codes.Follow verbal, written and digital instructions.Use test equipment regularly, such as a voltmeter and ohmmeter.Use hand tools of the electrical trade plus power tools, ditch witch, bucket truck and chainsaws.Work under adverse conditions, (heat, cold, inclement weather) and be able to perform manual type labor (digging, heavy lifting, etc.).Work at heights well above ground level from/out of various types of equipment.supervisor or management (overtime).Plans wiring and installation of equipment.Perform other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
General knowledge of the methods, practices and techniques used in the work assigned.General knowledge of the materials, tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair of building electrical systems.Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in the workplace.Must be willing and able to work at heights well above ground level from/out of various types of equipment.Applicant must also be able to work under adverse conditions, (heat, cold, inclement weather) and be able to perform manual type labor (digging, heavy lifting, etc.).Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative and team focused working relationships with team members, leadership and the public.General knowledge and experience in activities of electrical and telecommunications.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalent diploma.Florida Class B CDL License, with air brake endorsement, (or ability to obtain within twelve months (12) months of employment).A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
