Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This position is located in Rockville, MD at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG). As a member of the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) leadership team, this position is responsible for providing leadership for facilities management and operations, master planning, facilities renewal, capital and campus projects, safety & security, space and scheduling, furniture, fixtures & equipment (FF&E), environment, health and safety (EHS), lab management, sustainability, and related regulatory compliance.
The Director is responsible for overseeing all processes associated with budget, planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of all USG facilities. In addition to overseeing building operations and maintenance, the incumbent is responsible for developing unit goals and implementing strategies for public safety and security, master planning, space planning/utilization, laboratory management, academic scheduling, FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) and sustainability initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education Required:Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Experience Required:Minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of large institutional facilities and infrastructure, including experience with project management, facility interior renovation/repurpose (FF&E).Experience should include at least three to four years in a leadership role for a facilities management organization.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of higher education and state fiscal policies.Skills in budget and contract management (capital and operating).Knowledge of space utilization and master planning.Understanding of building facilities, building operations and data management systems.Skills in data management with application of critical thinking and attention to detail.Knowledge of green buildings and other sustainability initiatives.Understanding of energy management.Knowledge of laboratory safety practices and EHS policies.Knowledge of creating written policy and implementation.Preferences:
Preferences:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, or related field.Master's degree.LEED Certification.Experience in a higher education setting preferred.Additional Certifications:

Work is performed in both an office environment and in the field. Incumbent will be required to perform hands-on tasks with equipment which will require the ability to lift, bend, stooping, and working at heights. Incumbent must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment.This position is considered
"Essential Personnel"
subject to 24/7 day/week span of operations. Work is normally performed during normal working hours however it is expected that those in this position work whenever necessary to ensure the facility is running safely and efficiently at all times. After hour service calls are to be expected during summer months and times of extreme inclement weather.
