Mastagni Holstedt, A.P.C. is actively hiring for a legal secretary to join our team in Sacramento, CA. The legal secretary will be working in our Civil Litigation Department. As a legal secretary, you will perform various legal administrative tasks to support assigned attorneys in the day-to-day operations of the firm.Our ideal candidate will have at
minimum two years' experience
as a legal secretary, legal assistant, or paralegal in Civil Litigation, evidencing strong knowledge of legal procedures and strong organizational and technical skills. A background in civil litigation is required. Paralegal certificate is a plus and preferred. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.About Our Firm:For decades, Mastagni Holstedt, APC has served clients throughout California in matters related to civil litigation, automobile accidents, medical malpractice, workers' compensation, criminal defense, and labor and employment, among other areas. We primarily represent law enforcement unions and members, along with firefighters/firefighter unions and public employees.*Only applicants with minimum two years' experience will be considered*Requirements:Two years' experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or legal secretary with a background in civil litigation and/or personal injury.Knowledge of substantive legal terminology and concepts, along with knowledge of the methodology of legal proceedings and civil and court system procedures.Qualifications and What We Are Looking For:Strong attention to detail and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once while prioritizing deadlines.Willingness to work under pressure and tight time constraints in a team environment.Ability to independently draft legal documents for attorney review.Strong technical skills (including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat and Court filing systems).Responsibilities:Provide administrative support to attorneys, law clerks, and senior paralegals.Prepare and draft legal documents, including formal discovery requests and responses. special interrogatories, requests for admissions, production demands, deposition notices, subpoenas, motions, and legal correspondence for attorneys.Proofread, edit, and finalize legal documents under attorney supervision.Maintain and organize case files and documents in paper and/or electronic format.File pleadings and other legal documents with state and federal courts.Effectively and professionally communicate with all parties involved in the matter, i.e., clients, medical providers, insurance companies, and/or opposing counsel.Schedule hearings, conferences, and manage attorney calendars.Prepare exhibits for hearing.Manage work for multiple cases and/or multiple attorneys.Maintain client confidentiality.Other duties as assigned.Benefits:Paid time off and paid sick leavePaid holidaysCasual dress FridaysFree parking in Downtown SacramentoHealth, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance.401(k)Pay: $25-28 an hour.
