Truck Driver

This position is responsible for operating a truck in the maintenance of county roadways.
Examples of Duties
Performs daily checks of tires and fluid levels on vehicles and equipment; performs minor repairs and maintenance as needed.Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspection of equipment.Operates a dump truck to transport dirt and other materials to work sites.Operates a water truck to water roads.Operates a patching truck in support of road maintenance and repair operations.Operates a refuse truck along an assigned route.Operates a grapple truck to pick up trash and tree branches.Operates a winch truck to transport equipment to and from work sites.Operates an emulsion distributor truck to seal asphalt roads.Installs cones and traffic control devices; flags traffic as needed.Responds to after-hours emergencies.Performs any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of county policies and procedures pertaining to road maintenance and repair.Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.Knowledge of departmental and safety rules and regulations.Skill in operating assigned trucks and equipment.Skill in establishing safe work zones.Skill in the maintenance and repair of a variety of tools and equipment.Skill in the use of hand and power tools.Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
Valid Texas Driver's License* *If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver's License must be obtainedpriorto employment.
