DescriptionThis position will provide dental care services to patients of the Center for FamilyMedicine's FQHC's programs. In addition, the incumbent will work closely with the ChiefDental Officer to coordinate training experiences for dental students and other learners.Examples of DutiesI. TEACHINGA. Serve as a mentor for dental students and residents who rotatethrough the Springfield site.B. Supervise dental students in the provision of care to patients.C. Develop and facilitate core curriculum conferences for the FCMresidency program on the integration of oral health and primarycare.
II. SERVICEA. Provide direct dental services to patients of the SIU CFM dental clinic inSpringfield.B. On an emergent or temporary basis, provide dental care to patients at otherSIU FQHC dental sites.C. Supervise dental hygienist and dental assistants in the provision of dentalcare to patients.D. Participate in Center Peer Review and Quality Improvement activities.E. Provide emergency services to patients as needed.
ADMINISTRATIONA. Maintain effective relationships with community providers in sites wheredental care is provided to enhance services and outcomes for patients,ensuring coordination of care with community resources.B. Ensure compliance with all regulatory entities' standards; ensure qualitypatient care and appropriate provider productivity.C. Serve as member of the Management Team and the ContinuousQuality Improvement Committee.D. Attend faculty meetings and core conferences as requested.
RESEARCH/ACADEMIC ACTIVITIESA. Attend professional meetings in field to keep abreast of newdevelopments and treatments.Qualificationsa. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority and low income populations.b. Doctorate of Dental Surgery or Doctorate of Dental Medicine at time of hire.c.
