Primary Care Pediatrician (Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics)

DescriptionThis is an academic position in the practice and teaching of primary care pediatrics to medical students, residents, and allied health professionals.Examples of DutiesService1. Demonstrates, by actions, commitment to the mission and the behavioral standards of SIUMedicine. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers throughcollaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity and accountability; diversityand inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement.2. Provide clinical care to patients with a specific focus on the underserved and communityhealth.3. Provide quality evidence-based medical care.4. Provide consultation and patient care under the terms of the SIU Medicine. Meet MeaningfulUse and other mandated documentation requirements.5. Set an example to future practitioners of a highly skilled and conscientious practice of PrimaryCare Pediatrics that is balanced with self-education and other academic activities.6. Adhere to SIU Medicine's Standards of Service, compliance, patient satisfaction and providercommunication.7. Serve as an advocate for programs and services that improve the health and well-being ofchildren in Central and Southern Illinois.8. Attend departmental faculty meetings and division meeting via electronic systems.9. Participate in Primary Care Call pool, hospital rounding and newborn schedule.

Teaching1. Assist in the direct observation and supervision of medical students and residents in theoutpatient setting.2. Provide medical student and resident evaluation feedback per program requirements.3. Communicate regarding concerns with individual resident performance to residency programdirector.

Research and Quality Improvement1. Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives with dedicated time for those projectsrelated to the Patient Centered Medical Home Initiative (PCMH) and community health.2. Regularly attend Pediatric Grand Rounds.
