Transportation Bus Driver

Reports To: Transportation Supervisor
Qualifications:
• School bus drivers shall possess a CDL class B license with a PS endorsement and have not less than 5 years of driving experience with an unrestricted operator’s license.
• Annual physical examinations are requires for all school bus drivers.
• All drivers are required to have a drug screening test before being hired.
• All drivers are subject to random drug testing.
• All drivers are required to have a back ground check before being hired.
• School bus drivers shall not use profanity or tobacco in any form nor be under the influence of any intoxication drink or other drug.
• Substitute or alternative drivers shall meet all qualifications and requirements for regular drivers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Neat in appearance, courteous to parents and children and cooperative with teachers and school officials
• Participate in the state sponsored 24 hour driver training program.
• Obey all state and local traffic regulations.
• Wear seat belts at all times when such belts are provided.
• Remain on buses while students are on the bus, including loading and unloading.
• Promote safety habits with the group of students being transported.
• Report any misconduct of students to the principal of the school to which the student attends.
• Sweep and clean bus at least once each day.
Capacity and Ability Requirements:
The usual job demands requires the following physical requirements: some lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, some stooping, kneeling, and physical dexterity.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
