Job Summary
Manages nursing and administrative operations in specific patient care areas. Implements changes to patient workflows and operational processes. Maintains 24 hour line management responsibility for the administration of fiscal, material and human resources. Required Qualifications
4-5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience with patient care clinical standards and care delivery systems, external regulations and internal policiesDemonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services. Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, critical events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making.Strong leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses and project proposalsKnowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.Flexibility to work at all UCSF Medical Center locationsKnowledge of Hospital operationsPreferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in Nursing or relevant areaRecent leadership role in a large inpatient environmentKnowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units/departmentsFloat Pool, Critical care or Transitional Care/Stepdown/Progressive Care experience in an academic medical centerLicense/Certification

Department Description
The Central Resource Group provides service to all in-patient units/areas and consists of the Adult Float Pool and the Nursing Administrative Staffing Office. Float Pool personnel consists of; Critical Care Nurses, Medical/Surgical Care Nurses, Transport Nurses, Discharge Lounge Nurses, Patient Care Assistants/Safety Attendants, Video Monitor Technicians and Hospital Unit Service Coordinators. Nursing Administrative Staffing Office personnel consists of Staffing Coordinators, Administrative Supervisor, Administrative Analyst and the Hospital Supervisor for Parnassus, Mission Bay and Mount Zion.
Float Pool personnel provide exceptional quality of care to a wide range of acute and critically ill adult patients. Float pool personnel are assigned adult in-patient unit/area at Parnassus, Mission Bay and Mount Zion, including patients in the Emergency Department and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
The Nursing Administrative Office provides 24/7 administrative service to all Medical Center personnel. Nursing Office operations include the management of operational staffing and resource allocation, attendance tracking, monitoring/tracking of RN licensure and required certifications. Hospital Supervisors provide 24/7 administrative oversight over general hospital operations at Parnassus, Mission Bay and Mount Zion.
