Willis Smith Construction is seeking a Project Accountant to join our Sarasota-based accounting team. This is an in-office, non-remote position.
The Project Accountant's primary responsibility is to support the project team regarding contract modifications, compliance, payments, reports and any other duties related to the project.
Essential Functions:
Manage all accounting-related functions for assigned projects.Assist project teams with any questions or needs relating to the accounting department.Manage invoices, payments, and compliance for assigned projects.Have an understanding of compliance requirements for assigned projects.Responsibilities:
Process vendor invoices accurately and within assigned timeline.Process sub-contractor payments accurately and within assigned timeline.Collect and track compliance documents.Generate reports including A/R, Contract Status and Job Cost.Input owner billings in Timberline and/or Procore.Job cost report modification.Monthly financial analysis and on-going revenue review.Work with Project Managers for monthly deadline-driven project billing.Ensure all billing transactions are completed and accurately recorded in the accounting system.Prepare invoices and complete monthly billings.Contract management and review.Coordinate and pursue receivables.Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree.5+ years of construction-specific accounting experience.Solid understanding of construction-specific accounting fundamentals.High degree of professionalism and strong people skills required, with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with customers, employees, and the managers of other departments.Key competencies are communication, teamwork, initiative and dependability.Good command of the English language, oral and written.Ability to multi-task and succeed in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Experience using computerized accounting systems, Procore and/or Sage Timberline a significant plus.Willing and able to become a Licensed Florida Notary Public within sixty (60) days of start, education and registration paid by company.Must have own, reliable transportation.Technical Skills:
