Job Purpose

The purpose of the Scheduler position is to ensure the efficient and timely production of plastic machined parts within a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment. This role is vital for coordinating and optimizing the use of resources, including labor, machines, and materials, through effective scheduling and planning. By leveraging the ERP system and collaborating closely with production managers, the Scheduler aims to maintain production schedules, enhance workflow efficiency, and meet customer delivery deadlines, ultimately contributing to the overall success and operational excellence of the company.

Principal Accountabilities

Production Planning: Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to ensure timely completion of customer orders. Adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in production priorities, machine availability, and material supply. Maintains master distribution schedule for the assigned facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays. Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, production, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff. Reviews new incoming orders to ensure dates and planning is appropriate.

Resource Management: Coordinate with production managers to allocate resources effectively, including labor, machines, and materials, to optimize production efficiency.

ERP System Utilization: Utilize the company’s ERP system to input, track, and update job orders, inventory levels, and production schedules. Ensure data accuracy and integrity within the ERP system.

Collaboration: Work closely with production managers, team leaders, and other departments to communicate production schedules and resolve any issues that may arise. Facilitate regular meetings to review production progress and address any bottlenecks.

Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor production performance and provide regular reports on schedule adherence, resource utilization, and production efficiency. Identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes, reduce lead times, and improve overall efficiency. Suggest and implement best practices for scheduling and resource management.

Detail-Oriented: Ensure attention to detail in all planning and scheduling activities to maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency.

Other: Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a planning or scheduling role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a high mix, low volume production setting.

ERP Proficiency: Strong proficiency in using ERP systems for production planning and scheduling. Experience with EPICOR is a plus.

Technical Skills: Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Ability to learn and utilize new software and tools quickly.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey complex information clearly.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to analyze production data and make informed decisions to optimize schedules and resource allocation.

Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Transparency (complete highlighted sections)

The salary range for this position is $64,691 - $80,800. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
