The AWS Security Assurance team is responsible for diving deep into industry requirements, maintaining regulatory and security requirements, and establish strategies to meet current and upcoming customer and regulatory security needs. At AWS scale, we hire experienced builders to design and operate scalable mechanisms to provide the highest level of assurance to our most regulatory conscious customers.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager to join our Compliance Remediation team. As part of the team, you will own the workstreams critical to our continual adherence to domestic and global AWS compliance programs.

Our team solves complex compliance challenges, dives deep into compliance requirements for both AWS and our customers, improves processes, and drives greater efficiencies in meeting expectations. This role drives technical solutions and updates across AWS to adhere to ever increasing and evolving security needs.

You should be an experienced TPM who has a sound understanding of security engineering, programming, and an ability to understand IT and compliance processes, evaluate opportunities for improvement, and to be able to drive innovative campaigns across organizations and teams.

Key job responsibilities

Defining, scoping, and managing the delivery of security engineering focused projects and campaigns from ideation with excellent project management skills

Diving deep into the operations of AWS compliance programs to develop broad domain and technical understanding of regulatory and customer expectations and requirements to drive process improvement initiatives

Evaluating the efficacy of regulatory program activities and leading improvements to enable delivery at scale

Anticipating bottlenecks and provide escalation management (evaluating trade-offs, dependencies across teams, and making recommendations to stakeholders/leadership while balancing the business needs/commitments with technical constraints)

Setting and embodying team culture and the quality bar, driving cross-team alignment by negotiating and resolving conflict smoothly with our without formal authority

Driving timely and transparent communication and reporting on progress on key deliverables, priorities, goals, and issues across the team and stakeholders

Managing emergent tasks against multiple shifting priorities, mitigating risks, and eliminating blockers

Leading collaborations on cross-team engagements and advising on challenging business goals

Bridge communication with both technical engineering and business teams to connect business requirements with development roadmaps, guiding strategy and negotiating design

Operate a quality rhythm of the business, continuously coordinating and driving adoption of improvement efforts to manage regulatory expectations

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of technical product or program management experience

3+ years of software development experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, other related fields, or equivalent experience

5+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering

Ability to take large, complex projects/problems and break them up into pieces, with deep technical, leadership, and program management expertise

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
