Overview
This position is responsible for performing all duties associated with maintaining high level ice conditions in accordance with OHL standards.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Accountability
Perform all aspects of building maintenanceIce Maintenance -- Edging, Zamboni Operations, Flooding and PaintingGeneral maintenance of Ice Making MachinesFollow all safety programs associated with the operation of ice making and ice maintenance equipmentDaily/Monthly maintenance of all mechanical equipmentKeep maintenance logs on specified equipmentPerform preventative maintenance on vehicles and or machinesOperate fork lift and aerial liftSpecial Event tear down and set-upAssist with all grounds keeping (trash removal, lawn maintenance and snow removal)Co-ordination and teamwork with building maintenance staffOther job duties as assigned
Education & Experience
High School Diploma2 Years experience in ice rink or event center.1-2 Years experience in Zamboni drivingWorking knowledge of ice maintenance.Working Knowledge of building maintenance and building systems.
Required Knowledge and Essential Skills
Team player and accept and evaluate criticism on ice and facility conditionsWillingness to learn and teach new skillsEstablish attention to detailExcellent communication, interpersonal and leadership abilitiesStrong planning and problem-solving skills .Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where extensive standardization exists
Minimum Qualifications
A valid Drivers LicenseMinimum 18 years of ageFlexible work schedule, may need to work late and weekend hoursMust pass background checkMust be authorized to work in the United States
Environmental Job Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in all temperature/weather extremesRegularly work near moving mechanical partsMay be exposed to fume and or airborne particlesMay be exposed to heights up to 50 feetRegularly work near or in areas that hearing protection may be required Physical RequirementsMay need to wear the following protective equipment: safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes/boots and glovesFrequently lift and or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 poundsMay need to work in aerial lifts at height up to 50 feet May need to drive fork lift, aerial lift and scissor liftSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusHearing -- to converse with others in a normal conversationBalancing, bending, climbing, kneeling, walking, pushing, reaching above shoulders, and sitting
