Summary
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking a provider trained in primary care sports medicine to join our team, which is committed to providing care to diverse and underserved populations in the Greater Houston and Harris County area. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity, if desired, to participate in academic activities which support medical education and research. This position will provide direct patient care services at the McNair campus, as well as one of our nearby affiliated office locations. In your patient care activities, you will be surrounded by orthopedic surgeons in sports medicine and a variety of other sub-specialties; working together, the team will help to improve the overall well-being of our patients. This is a non-tenured clinical track faculty position that offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and an opportunity to work for a prestigious institution with outstanding faculty and staff.
Job Duties
Duties include direct patient care and participation in the education of medical students or residents and fellows.Direct outpatient care for 8-9 half-day sessions a week.As a member of our sports medicine team, participate in athletic team and event coverage, attend educational conferences, and participate in team meetings.Participate in faculty meetings and other departmental conferences.Contribute to quality improvement, educational, and/or research projects.Keep up with continuing medical education as per college and specialty requirements.Renewing and meeting all required licenses and certification requirements.Complete all documentation in a timely manner so that billing and other administrative tasks can happen smoothly to ensure a robust operational system.Minimum Qualifications
Education Required: M.D. or D.O.Experience: Completion of residency training in an ACGME-accredited program. Completion of a fellowship in primary care sports medicine. No prior practice experience is required.Certification/Licenses/Registration Required: License from the Texas Medical Board is required to practice medicine in the state of Texas. Board Certification in the specialty of one's residency training. Baylor allows a grace period of four years from residency graduation date to pass the boards.
