The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, and scholarly activities. As general internists, we apply scientific knowledge, clinical expertise and compassion to prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients with a broad spectrum of medical conditions. We care for diverse patients in primary care outpatient settings. Our physicians practice at Baylor Medicine Clinic and interact with colleagues at Baylor St. Luke's CHI Hospitals (Medical Center, Sugarland, Vintage, Woodlands), Harris Health System (Ben Taub Hospital and Smith Clinic) and the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine. Founded in 1953, it is one of the largest education programs in the United States with more than 700 trainees and a highly competitive specialty fellowship training programs, including seven federally funded research training grants. Summary

The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an outpatient Internal Medicine Physician to provide services at the Baylor Medicine McNair clinic. Ideal candidates are patient-centered and committed to excellence in providing quality care in an inpatient setting.

Job Duties

Positions are clinical with direct patient care for 9 sessions a week.Provide medical care to adults in the outpatient care setting. Supervise residents, medical students, and other learners as needed.Coordinate with inpatient care teams for safe discharge of patients.Participate in any team meetings.Contribute to quality improvement and/or research projects.Keep up with continuing medical education as per college and specialty requirements.Renewing and meeting all required licenses and certification requirements.Familiarize with the Epic electronic medical records and document all patient encounters as needed.Complete all documentation in a timely manner so that billing and other administrative tasks can happen smoothly to ensure a robust operational system.Benefits include malpractice insurance, comprehensive medical/vision/dental coverage, retirement, funds for CME related activities, and shared administrative support.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement: MD, DO; Board Certified or board eligible.Licensure Requirement: Licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
