Responsibilities

The Shuttle Driver transports guests by driving a vehicle holding over 24 passengers (or smaller vehicles as needed) within the assigned location, providing safe shuttling service, exceptional customer service, and a warm and friendly arrival and departure experience; greets customers in a courteous manner; provides customer satisfaction with a friendly demeanor and willingness to help; shuttle guests to and from their cars to various locations on the location campus; communicate with customers and staff who have general inquiries about parking, parking locations, and guest services; use and maintain equipment properly, including keeping equipment clean; work independently and as part of the team; observe safety precautions at all times; to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodations; reasonable accommodations may be approved by the Human Resources department to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions; incumbent must be able to sit for up to six (6) consecutive hours and work outdoors in all weather conditions; strong interpersonal skills; frequently communicate verbally in English with team members and customers; must be able to exchange accurate information; able to detect safety concerns and adjust accordingly; ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion; good work habits and reliability; a clean driving record and current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be maintained and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama; must be at least 18 years of age; must follow appropriate grooming standards; required to wear appropriate uniform; the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, and handle or feel; the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and will be frequently required to sit; the employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, and crouch; must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; the employee may be required to remain in a stationary position for extended period; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.
