OVERVIEW: Accounting/Payroll Clerk works in a team-based environment; is committed to serving our customers, is primarily responsible for performing all payroll functions; performs various accounting related functions; and assists with agency projects.
REPORTS TO:
Accounting Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll:• Administration of the Metro Housing payroll functions using vendor services;• Process timely and accurate payroll: time sheet preparations, distribution,
adjusting entries, deductions, etc.
General Accounting Functions:
Assist with monthly general ledger process, preparations, entries, proofs, etc.Maintain and update various subsidiary records: spreadsheets, logs, etc.Prepare and/or distribute various accounting reports;Maintain organized filing systems, work areas, record keeping;Assist in team cross training programs and other programs as directed;Perform timely and accurate contract billings;Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years experience in payroll and general accounting;Familiarity with automated software applications: Excel, Word, etc;Accuracy and attention to detail;Strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills;Familiarity with automated software applications: ADP Payroll processing, spreadsheet, word-processing, etc;ADP Workforce Now Certification;Excellent writing, presentation and organization skills.Demonstrated ability in facilitation, coaching and in leading staff in joint problem-solving and collaboration;Ability to manage several tasks at once, anticipate and identify problems putting forward solutions that are creative, innovative, and flexible;Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems and strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and negotiation skills.Must be computer literate, self-motivated, and reliable to work independently;Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse low-income population;BA/BS degree or equivalent experience;Multi-lingual (verbal and written) preferred.PREFERENCE GIVEN TO:
Candidates with multilingual skills (verbal and written). We are seeking candidates that speak and write English and at least one of the following languages (for interpreting and translation): Vietnamese, Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Toisanese, and Spanish.Candidates who live within two miles of Metro Housing|Boston's headquarters at Roxbury Crossing.
