JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Details Job Location Oshkosh WI Universal Branch Corporate Office - Oshkosh, WI Remote Type Optional Work from Home Position Type Full Time Description POSITION SUMMARY The underwriter position is responsible for underwriting all direct and indirect consumer loan application requests. Lending authority is assigned based on experience level and proven ability to safeguard credit union assets by diligently adhering to corporate, investor, and regulatory requirements when making underwriting decisions. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Analyzes applicant credit data, financial status, financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Evaluates member records and decisions loans based on earnings, savings, data, payment history and overall credit activity. Ensures loan decisions are timely, complete and in accordance to policy and requirements set out in regulation. Evaluates ratios to evaluate member financial status. Reviews and updates credit and loan files. Works with Financial Architects to obtain further information, present data, or explain policy or procedures. Stays educated on current policy and procedures as well as new loan types or any promotions. Assists in obtaining lending goals and objectives of the credit union. Uses a professional approach to assess the credit needs of members while observing the established lending policies and guidelines. Track and compile data to assist in measuring the success of loan decisions. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, supervisory Certificate with two (2) or four (4) years related experience and/or training, of equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one (1) years of experience in underwriting auto loans, rec loans, unsecured loans, credit cards, etc. KEY COMPETENCIES Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Superior communication skills: effectively listen, take instruction, and disseminate information. Use effective judgement while managing time to make sound decisions while minimizing the Credit Union\'s exposure to risk. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, handle multiple priorities, problem-solve, exercise good judgement and employ initiative. Proven ability to demonstrate patience, diplomacy, tact and professionalism and maintain confidentiality regarding issues of a sensitive nature.
