Position Purpose:

Provides physician directed therapy, diagnostic evaluation and care of clients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system and sleep disorders, as set forth by the American Association for Respiratory Care in a home setting.

What you will Do:

Assesses the client's respiratory condition and develops an appropriate plan of care for the home setting.

Initiates and applies appropriate preventative, therapeutic and rehabilitative procedures and techniques in the home.

Maintains effective communication regarding the client's care with physician, manager, and family participating in case conferences as appropriate.

Provides respiratory rehabilitation, appropriate instruction, and supportive counseling for the client and family in the home, until an optimum recovery level is achieved.

Accurately documents observations, interventions and evaluations, pertaining to client/care services provided, in accordance with regulatory agencies, company policies and procedures on the day services are rendered.

Maintains and enhances clinical practice skills through on-going continuing education and conferences.

Performs other responsibilities as requested by the attending physician.

Hours/Schedule: Full Time, (40) hours / week.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from a respiratory therapy program required.

Credentialed by the NBRC at the Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist level required.

Current Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure in the state of Iowa required.

Be willing to obtain a State of Minnesota License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist within 6 months of hire.

Must have demonstrated competency as a Respiratory Therapist with at least one year of experience.

Must be able to function professionally in client's residences where conditions may be less than desirable.

Current motor vehicle driving license, and available to travel to client's residences required.

Computer and typing skills required.

Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.

Must provide proof of Basic Life Support ( BLS Provider -American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines

Motor Vehicle:

If required to operate MercyOne vehicle, will need to have proof of and maintain valid driver's license on file with Human Resources.
