JOB SUMMARY

The Sweeper II maintains an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure.

Sweepers may be required to transfer between locations to fulfill department staffing needs.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check.

High school diploma or equivalentPrevious custodial experienceExperience in a K-12 education or public employment environmentSpanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understandESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean assigned school facilities (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environmentSanitize restrooms according to departmental guidelinesArrange furnishings and equipment to provide adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities, and eventsAs needed, stand for extended periods of time, roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 30 poundsAssist in securing facilities and grounds to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability to organizationAttend in-service training (e.g. bloodborne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) to receive information on new and improved proceduresParticipate in meetings, workshops, and seminars, as assigned to convey and gather information required to perform functionsSupport a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to perform the duties of the position effectivelyAdapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as requiredWork under limited supervision, utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies, accurately processing detailed information, and meeting deadlinesMaintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectivelyPerform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 30 pounds, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 0% sitting, 50% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and in a generally hazard free environment.
